Sherlock Holmes Meets Dracula movie poster

I've always been curious as to why the movie studios that had the rights to both characters never did a crossover. Although the ideal Universal Pictures project would have been with Bela Lugosi, he was in no shape to do this once Uni acquired the Sherlock Holmes franchise from Fox. So we're stuck with that time's Dracula du jour, the otherwise unfortunate Lon Chaney, Jr. going up against the Holmes-for-the-ages, Basil Rathbone.

Next up… the inevitable Hammer Films remake!
